You may be eligible for Discretionary Housing Payments

Those suffering financial hardship because their Housing Benefit does not meet the full value of their rent may be able to get a discretionary payment from the government to help.

The Government has set limits on how much Discretionary Housing Payment (DHP) can be paid out in any financial year. These payments are made from a separate fund with a limited budget and are awarded as a short-term measure to help claimants experiencing difficult circumstances.

Those living in the city of Liverpool must apply to Liverpool City Council for DHP’s and can find more details about entitlements on their website. You can find the link to download the application form HERE.

Once completed, send it to the address below, providing as much information as possible to help them to understand why your circumstances are special. You can also hand in completed applications to any One Stop Shop.
