Pine Court Housing Association, part of The Sovini Group, treated customers and local residents alike to a variety of entertainment, food and fun in celebration of Chinese New Year.
Proud members of Black Minority Ethnic (BME) National, Pine Court Housing Association are one of the leading social housing providers for the Chinese community in Merseyside and frequently organise traditional celebrations for their customers.
Hosted at Pagoda Arts Centre on Henry Street, this year’s event welcomed the Year of the Rat – the first of the 12-year cycle of animals which appear in the Chinese zodiac.
In addition to martial arts displays, the Liverpool Hung Gar Kung Fu Friendship Association entertained guests with popular Chinese dragon and lion dances. Further performances were made by Pagoda Arts Centre musicians and Wah Sing Chinese Community Centre fan dancers.
Not only did guests enjoy an array of entertainment, but they were also treated to a buffet lunch and complimentary raffle draw. Representatives from Liverpool Chinese Business Association were on hand to enjoy the festivities along with Pine Court Housing Association customers and members from local community groups.
Director of Pine Court Housing Association, David Brown, said:
“Our annual Chinese New Year celebration is a real highlight for Pine Court and helps promote our vision of creating inclusive and diverse communities in Merseyside. The Year of the Rat promises to be prosperous as we approach completion of our new housing development Livingstone Park in Birkenhead.”
