Pine Court Housing Association celebrated with customers and partners to welcome in Chinese New Year.
The joyous festivities which began on Friday 16 February saw locals gather together at Liverpool’s Pagoda Arts to mark The Year of the Dog the Chinese zodiac sign associated with loyalty, friendliness and kindness.
The celebrations which historically last for seven days have seen a number of culturally rich activities take place across the city, including a musically inspired celebration organised by Pine Court Housing Association and featuring the Liverpool Hung Gar Kung Fu Club.
The event organised by the team at Pine Court welcomed local residents and partners Chinese Wellbeing and Steve Biko Housing Association.
The celebrations involved cultural dance, music and food which was enjoyed by all.
Director of Pine Court Housing Association, David Brown, said, “Chinese New Year is the biggest event in the Chinese Calendar. The event was a huge success and an excellent way for our residents from the Chinese and South East Asian communities to get together to celebrate Liverpool’s heritage as one of the oldest Chinese communities in the UK.”
Beverley Williams, Community Regeneration Manager from Steve Biko Housing Association said, “We are really pleased to join our friends at Pine Court Housing Association with our elders. The celebrations have been fantastic – there has been wonderful entertainment, food and atmosphere.”
